Who are we?

Kelas Tuisyen Cikgu Mariyam or in short, KCM was started in late 1990s' as a home based tuition centre. Cikgu Mariyam (Writer & ex-teacher) and Cikgu Nazim, her husband (Writer, Consultant, Chartered Accountant & Educationist)  are the founders who have contributed significantly to the growth of this educational institute. Both of them have conducted numerous educational programs and seminars in primary and secondary schools throughout Malaysia. To date, they have given seminars and trainings for more than 100,000 students on various educational issues. Besides, they also give seminars on parenting, teaching skills and motivation every now and then. They have written books and studying materials for Andaman Publications, Sasbadi and Edmaster Sdn. Bhd.

Kelas Tuisyen Cikgu Mariyam is a registered tuition centre with Ministry of Education, 1996. Its registered name is Pusat Tuisyen Sinar Bijak. Iconsultants Management Sdn Bhd is the holding company of the tuition centre.

Currently, KCM operates in 11 locations; Bandar Tun Hussein Onn (HQ), Bandar Baru Bangi Seksyen 7, Bangi Seksyen 3, Bangi Seksyen 8, Prima Saujana, Alam Damai, Semenyih, Danau Kota, Wangsamaju, Taman Melawati and Hulu langat.

   Founders and Directors

Cikgu Mariyam

Formerly was a banker, became a teacher and finally decided to operate her own tuition centres with the guidance and cooperation from her husband, Mr Nazim. She has a diploma in Secretarial Studies, Degree in Business Management and intends pursue her studies in the near future. Cikgu Mariyam is a very dedicated teacher who wants to make sure that every student who comes to her centre, will not be disappointed in acquiring knowledge and studying skills.

MOHAMED NAZIM BIN ABDUL RAHMAN is the Founder / Director Consultant in Kelas Tuisyen Cikgu Mariyam. Currently, he is also one of the most sought after consultants in INTAN (Institute of National Administration), Ministry of Higher Learning, Kuching Development Corporation and many other GLC and corporations. Besides lecturing, Mr. Nazim also gives educational seminars and talks to schools, colleges and universities. Formerly, he worked as a lecturer in University Malaya and in International Islamic University Malaysia.   Mr. Nazim gives talks and seminars on varies issues including Quality Management, strategic thinking, planning and management, Management by Objective, Financial Planning for both individual and corporations, accounting, finance and tax management. For schools, Mr Nazim is very popular for his Effective Studying Skills workshops, Teachers Training Courses and Effective Teaching & Learning Skills workshops.

Academic Qualification
Mr. Nazim is a Chartered Accountant by profession, holds a Diploma in Accounting from Politeknik Ungku Omar, Ipoh, a Bachelor Degree in Accounting from Universiti Utara Malaysia and an MBA from Ohio University of USA. He was a Petronas scholarship holder from for his excellent academic performance. He was offered a merit scholarship to do his MBA. He holds a lifetime membership of Beta Gama Association of USA for academic excellence. Mr. Nazim also is a gold medalist for obtaining 1st class in the MBA program. Currently, Mr Nazim is completing his PhD with Multimedia University (MMU)

Teachers

Kelas Tuisyen Cikgu Mariyam has very committed, experienced and qualified professional teachers. There are about 50 full time teachers and about 200 part time teachers attached with KCM.

Our teachers are normally qualified as:

Teachers are the most important assets to make our name reputable and well known. It is our policy to make sure that our teachers are well qualified and have sufficient experience in teaching. Many of our teachers are school teachers, examiners, speakers, trainers, motivators, book writers and counsellors.

In line with our quality maintenance and enhancement, teachers are evaluated every two to three months. The evaluation is done by independent qualified personnel including Mr. Nazim (The Advisor), Cikgu Mariyam, the respective Vice Principal of each centre and Quality Controllers (QC). Additionally, students are also asked to take participation in the evaluation process.

Normal Classes

Normal classes are strictly based on Government approved syllabus. We adhere to examination standards and guidelines.

            Primary  (Standard 1 – 6)

Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mathematics and Science

            Lower  Secondary  (Form 1 – 3)

Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mathematics, Science, Sejarah and Geografi

          Upper Secondary (Form 4 & 5)

Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Additional Mathematics, Biology, Accounts, Science, Perdagangan, Ekonomi and Sejarah

English Classes

Our English classes are very popular and are always in demand. Our students are from age 7 to adults. Our main objective of running the English classes is to equip students with speaking, writing, listening and reading skills and at the same time to make sure that the students are very confident in delivering speech / stories / casual conversation and can do presentation in front of small, medium or even large group.

It covers grammar, writing, reading, and communication skills. There are five levels of English Classes:

• Basic                                        Standard 1 & 2
• Intermediate I                         Standard 3 & 4
• Intermediate II                         Standard 5 & 6
• Intermediate III                       Form 1, 2 & 3
• Advance                                   Form 4 & 5

Basic  

This level is recommended for students of standard 1 and 2 (Ages 7 to 9). The student should have basic reading skills of at least 4 letters. The coverage is basic grammatical skills, average reading and writing capability, basic mastery of vocabulary and basic conversational skills.

Intermediate I 

For this level, a student must be able to read letters of more than 6 letters easily. The student should be able to speak little and understands simple conversations. Intermediate I is very much focus orientated program whereby we train our students to be good in grammatical and writing skills. Besides, we want them to converse confidently in English. We use materials from many sources ranging from Malaysia, Singapore, UK, India and also USA. Students are tested now and then to evaluate their mastery level of the skills.

Intermediate II

After passing the Intermediate I or when a student qualifies our Assessment Test* (must score a minimum of 65%) she / he would be placed in this level. This level is recommended for primary 5 or 6 (or, even for ages from 10 to 14). At this level, mastery of grammatical and writing skills is still very important. Students are given harder tasks and expected to perform independently with some supervision from the tutors or teachers. Materials are taken from various sources like Intermediate I.

Intermediate III

Students of lower secondary (Form 1 to Form 3) will benefit at this level. Tasks given are much tougher than the Intermediate II. Students are exposed to express creatively and intelligently. To assist the students’ mastery of English at school level, the program is very much based on school syllabus. Mastery of all language skills is given a lot of importance (Speaking, Writing, Listening & Reading Skills). A lot of tasks given are based on grammatical, writing and conversational skills.

Advance

This program is designed for Form 4 and SPM students. For this level, students are expected to have some good mastery of all the language skills. To make class environment to be more vivid and lively, students are given tasks requiring interaction among students. This includes dialogues, formal and informal presentation and others. 

Assessment Test

This test is important for placing the students at different level based on their English skills mastery. The test is focused on grammatical and writing skills. A score of 65% and above would elevate the student to the next level.

 Adult English Class

We do have English program for adults and SPM / STPM leavers. MUET, TOEFL and other recognized programs are run upon request on individual or small group basis.

Private Classes

Private classes are conducted in KCM centres. There are 3 types of private classes:

• 1 to 1 ( one teacher with one student)
• 1 to 2 ( one teacher with two students)
• 1 to 3 ( one teacher with there students)

Private class timetable depends on students’ requirement. It can be arranged once a week or twice a week. KCM recommends twice a week for weak and average students.  

Art Class

Certain branches of KCM has this Art Class. This class is conducted on every Saturday morning for 1 ½ hours.

       F) Kelas Mengaji (Al-Quran Reciting)

Since our majority students are Malays, we provide Quran Reciting Classes (Kelas Mengaji).

Computer Classes

Computer classes are conducted upon request. We provide all software trainings from Microsoft office to website development and programming.
